Meet Artist Woody Chock

WOODY CHOCK is a talented watercolorist and oil painter who grew up and currently lives on the island of 'Oahu. Woody paints the nature around him. He often enjoys sitting by the water and admiring the sight of Diamond Head, his favorite muse. He was originally inspired by famous Japanese woodblock print master Hokusai, and his Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji, and decided to bring Hokusai's philosophy to Hawai'i with Woody's own vision of One Hundred Views of Diamond Head.
With his wife Raelene and four children and grandfather of five Woody stresses the importance of bringing the tradition of 'Ohana (family) and a sense of harmony through art. His family and friends know him as a man with a big heart first, and a painter with great imagination, second.
Woody Chock's story of coming into art is a unique one. At age 12, he already had great passion for art and took great enjoyment studying at Hawai'i Academy of Arts. He graduated from Roservelt High and University of Hawai'i, having attended USF and Graduate School at Boston University. He served as a Captain in the U.S.A.F before returning home to Hawai'i. He worked as an editor for the Waikiki Beach Press and also the Hilton Hotels, Hawai'i, followed by operating his own galleries in the Hilton Hawaiian Village and other major hotels for twenty-four years. He has exhibited his work on numerous occasions around the island of 'Oahu and his work can be seen worldwide.
